Support Worker - Whakatane

$24.68 - $30.13 per hour depending on relevant qualifications, with the ability to earn more as you gain qualifications. Minimum of 60 guaranteed hours per fortnight, overtime is available. There is also opportunity to perform up to 6 sleepover shifts of up to 10 hours' duration per fortnight (paid at prevailing minimum wage). Mō te tūnga | About the role As a Support Worker you will be supporting people with intellectual disabilities to enjoy great lives at home and as part of their community. The position will be aligned to the relevant Area Office reporting to the relevant Service Manager. Your specific locations of work within the area would be as directed by your Service Manger within the Region. What does the job involve? Supporting people to grow their independence and learn skills for daily living (e.g. using public transport, getting a job, manage money, cook a meal). Supporting people with their individual needs and daily activities such as shopping, cleaning, showering and any medical appointments or medicine administering. Helping people with their interests and hobbies (e.g. going to the park or beach, participating in sport, doing art and crafts). Driving IDEA vehicles to transport people to places in the community. Support people to recognise and respond to emotional overwhelm and react safely. Supporting them to plan and achieve their goals and make decisions and choices. Making sure they can have strong connections with their whānau and community. Helping them stay healthy and make positive choices about their lifestyle. Nōu te rourou | What's in it for you?
