Job Description
Overview Thames Hospital – Fixed term, full time position from 1 May 2026 to 30 September 2026. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Allied Health team based in Thames Hospital. In this role you will assist physiotherapists to provide quality care to patients in an inpatient setting, supporting patients to achieve their goals during their hospital stay. Key Responsibilities Supervise patients with their exercise or therapy programme as prescribed by the qualified physiotherapist or occupational therapist. Help patients regain independence with activities of daily living following medical illness or surgery. Assist qualified staff to run exercise and breakfast groups. Clean, issue, restock and order equipment such as walking aids and exercise equipment. Set up equipment and provide family and patient education. Perform administrative tasks using our electronic systems. About the Team / Service The Allied Health department is part of the Waikato District and provides occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech and language therapy, dietetics, audiology with newborn hearing screening, social work and psychology services. Staff work directly with clients across a wide range of situations, striving to improve health and wellbeing. The department works in partnership with patients and their whānau to facilitate relationships and a smooth journey through the health care system, aiming for evidence‑based practice and equitable, efficient, effective service. About You Positive and flexible attitude. Ability to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary team. Good verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Basic to advanced computer and administrative skills. Ability to prioritise workload and manage competing demands. Previous experience working in healthcare is desirable.
