Contract Permanent, Full Time (1 FTE) About the Role We have an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker- Māori Clinician to join our Forensic Inpatient Unit on a permanent basis in Porirua. Key Responsibilities Contribute directly to the team's goals and deliver high-quality care within a secure environment. Perform both the Māori Clinician and Social Worker roles, reporting operationally to the Team Leader and professionally accountable to the Professional Leader for Social Work (Mental Health). Work with all whaiora within the Rangipapa environment, ensuring culturally competent practice and clinical support. Maintain proficiency in Tikanga and Te Reo Māori, acting as a role model in multidisciplinary team processes. Provide sound clinical and cultural considerations in multidisciplinary team processes. Qualifications and Experience Enthusiastic, energetic, and motivated to contribute meaningfully. Possesses basic group facilitation and problem‑solving skills. Experience in mental health or related settings is an advantage. Demonstrates ongoing personal and professional development. Able to set aside personal values to support the needs and beliefs of others respectfully. Previous experience working alongside mental health consumers and disability consumers in a public sector health setting is desirable. Genuine interest in working alongside tangata whaiora in mental health settings. Sound knowledge of tikanga Māori with the ability to apply this in practice. Registered Social Worker with current annual practicing certificate. Salary Range Step 3–7: $90,843–$110,290 depending on experience. Location Purehurehu and Rangipapa are central regional adult medium secure forensic units operating as a 24‑hour service at Ratonga Rua hospital campus. Purehurehu is a 19‑bed male unit, and Rangipapa is a 15‑bed mixed gender unit plus two detached cottages (one four‑bed and one five‑bed).
