Job Description

The Risk and Compliance Manager will work to implement the Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa (known as Ngāti Awa Social & Health Services) Risk and Assurance framework across all service areas of the organisation (including health, early childhood education, housing and social work). You will play a key role in supporting our organisation as we grow in scale and impact, through ensuring we are effective in our management of risks and supporting our leaders in the exercise of authorities delegated from the Crown. As a manager, you will promote a positive risk and assurance culture, act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, and help embed risk and assurance principles. The Manager provides expert advice to colleagues across the Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa businesses to support the strategic and operational. Key responsibilities Implement the Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa Risk and Assurance framework across all service areas Ensure effective management of risks across the organisation Support leaders in the exercise of authorities delegated from the Crown Promote a positive risk and assurance culture Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders Help embed risk and assurance principles About you Highly capable and seasoned strategic Risk and Compliance Manager with leadership and mentor experience Strong operational expertise and proven track record Sound understanding of risk management, assurance, compliance and governance frameworks Ability to function both autonomously and as part of a team, proactive and able to adapt to meet the changing needs of the business Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to build rapport with a wide range of stakeholders Collaborative team player who challenges with aroha the status quo and contributes innovative ideas 5-10 years' experience in risk advisory, compliance, internal or external audit or similar function at manager level, or within an Internal Audit team at a government entity or commercial business Professional qualification such as Certified Internal Auditor, Professional Risk or Compliance practitioner or equivalent Experience and proficiency in risk assessment, incident management, analysis and mitigation techniques and related action management Understanding of regulatory landscape and application through a compliance framework About us Te Tohu o Te Ora o Ngāti Awa has grown into a leading iwi provider of health, social, and employment services, and more recently, Kāinga Māori development services.
