Job Description
BG&E is a civil and structural engineering consultancy, celebrated for our innovative, award-winning designs that prioritise practicality and constructability. Now part of the SYSTRA Group, we continue our decades-long commitment to delivering high-quality technical expertise to our clients – proud to support the ambitious growth of a sustainable and resilient international company. We partner with clients and stakeholders to challenge the status quo, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in engineering. We are looking for an Intermediate to Senior Temporary Works Engineer who thrives at the intersection of technical design and real‑world construction. In this role, you won’t just be sitting behind a screen crunching numbers; you will own your designs end‑to‑end, working hand‑in‑hand with tier‑1 site teams to turn smart concepts into practical, safe, issued‑for‑construction solutions. Responsibilities Run your own temporary works packages from initial concept through to issued‑for‑construction documentation, designing everything from standard formwork and falsework to heavy steel framing, precast panel propping, excavation support and staging analysis. Work directly alongside joint venture builders and site teams to align your designs with real‑world construction sequencing and methodologies. Partner closely with permanent works engineers and external project stakeholders to ensure seamless design interfaces. Step out of the office to conduct on‑site inspections, ensuring your temporary works solutions are safely and practically executed as intended. Look beyond just the calculations; contribute to technical writing, fee proposals and stakeholder management to drive projects forward seamlessly. Qualifications A Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. Professional membership (such as Engineers Australia, MEngNZ, or working towards CPEng) is highly regarded. 3 to 5+ years of structural design experience, with a heavy emphasis on temporary works and construction engineering. Strong structural analysis skills across concrete, steel and timber structures. Proficiency in design and modelling software such as SpaceGass, Microstran, Strand7, ETABS or Bluebeam is essential. Proven experience designing for heavy civil applications, which may include crane mats, back‑propping or complex lifting frames. Exceptional interpersonal skills with a natural willingness to mentor junior engineers and share your technical expertise. #J-18808-Ljbffr
