Meals on Wheels Driver - Middlemore

We're urgently looking for friendly volunteer drivers to join one of our Middlemore volunteer teams, to provide an essential service in our communities by delivering tasty and nutritional meals to vulnerable people. We urgently seek volunteers for routes around Mt Wellington and Papatoetoe . As a driver you would collect chilli-bins containing hot meals, deliver them and have a brief chat at the door, then return the chilli-bins to the depot and go home feeling good that you’ve helped someone out today. We provide a small contribution to costs. Requirements Minimum age 18 years. Training of 4 to 8 hours. Valid driver’s licence. Vehicle with valid registration (rego) and warrant of fitness (WoF). Two character references. Friendly person with their own car and a full driver licence. Will be trained in how to carry out the role and supported by Red Cross volunteers or staff members. A Ministry of Justice background check is required. Time Commitment Meal pick-up time 10:30am Monday to Friday. Shifts start and end at the meal pick-up point on Hospital Road in Middlemore, usually lasting 60‑90 minutes. Most drivers deliver meals once a week every two weeks, but shifts are flexible.
