Job Description

ME/CFS Canterbury / West Coast Charitable Trust managed by Volunteering Canterbury MECFS Canterbury provides services that make a real difference for people with ME/CFS (Myalgic Encephalomyelitis /Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) but we do not receive any government funding to do this. To meet the needs of our chronically ill community appropriately, we need to attract sponsorships and other partnerships, and, increase donations from public fundraising activities. Do you have the experience and passion to help us to continue to make an important difference? People have told us... "If I hadn't met with the Nurse who validated my experience of my chronic illness and advocated for me with my GP to obtain a diagnosis, I would not be here. Life had got too hard." "I love this organisation, so caring and respectful in everything that they do, and always looking to progress forward." The Sponsorship and Fundraising Lead is expected to: Build and maintain relationships and communication with potential and existing sponsors and partners. Develop a plan to increase funding through major gifts, appeals, regular giving, events, corporate sponsorship, discounts, and bequests. Maintain promotional material for potential funding partners and fundraising activities. Optionally, develop public fundraising events to increase donations from the wider community. Support the Grants team to build relationships with gaming trusts and community foundations. (Note that it is expected that the Grants team completes any detailed grant applications.) The role reports to the Board of MECFS Canterbury, and is supported by the Chairperson and Manager. Did you know? People with ME/CFS, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis /Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and long COVID have a reduced level of functionality that means they cannot complete normal activities of daily living. An additional burden is that doing too much physically or mentally can trigger Post-Exertional Malaise – a worsening of symptoms that can last for days or more. Many people with ME/CFS are house or bed bound, are unable to work, and do not have access to adequate financial, home and mobility supports through the welfare and health systems. #J-18808-Ljbffr
