Role Overview Clinical Midwife Coordinator(s) – Timaru Hospital – Jean Todd Maternity Ward (Permanent, Full time and Part Time, Rostered Shifts) Reporting to the Midwife Manager, Maternity, this role provides coordination of the multidisciplinary team to ensure optimum care in all maternity areas (birthing and ward areas). The role also encompasses professional leadership and acts as a key resource to the maternity team and empowers them to deliver contemporary high quality health care to women/pregnant persons and their associated family/whānau. Additionally, the role expects contribution to supervision and coaching of nursing and midwifery staff. The role also provides advice to and collaborates with the Nurse Co‑ordinator/Charge Nurse Manager Pediatrics to promote efficiency, productivity, and patient/staff safety within the area of transitional care and neonatology. Responsibilities Coordinate multidisciplinary team to ensure optimum maternity care. Provide professional leadership and act as key resource for the maternity team. Enable delivery of high quality health care to women/pregnant persons and associated family/whānau. Contribute to supervision and coaching of nursing and midwifery staff. Advises and collaborates with Nurse Co‑ordinator/Charge Nurse Manager Pediatrics on efficiency and safety in transitional care and neonatology. Qualifications Current annual practising certificate with the Midwifery Council of NZ. Two years postgraduate experience and working toward leadership in a Quality Leadership Programme in Midwifery. Demonstrated clinical and cultural competence to a high standard. Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori, or commitment to learning and growth in this area. Experience in projects or initiatives that give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches in healthcare settings. Team & Service / Location Jean Todd Maternity Service is based in Timaru Hospital and provides care to women in South Canterbury, averaging around 550 births per year, ranging from normal and low risk to complex and high needs.
