Head of Department (ORS)

Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts; 2MU, 2MMA Havelock North High School is seeking a qualified and experienced practitioner to lead our ORS (Ongoing Resourcing Scheme) department. The department operates from a state‑of‑the‑art, purpose‑built facility situated at the heart of our kura. The department accommodates ORS‑funded students from around the Hawke’s Bay region and currently operates a junior and senior programme. Students follow independent education plans that seek to develop key skills and assist with the transition from school to the wider world. The department currently serves 22 students, supported by 12 teacher aides, a full‑time assistant HOD and part‑time specialist teacher. The successful applicant will have: Relevant training and experience working with ORS students A robust understanding of effective teaching and learning for students with high needs, including the design of appropriate learning programmes and assessment Proven leadership and experience building and shaping effective teams Experience in resource and staff management including staffing, budgets, equipment, staff appraisal and appointments An ability to work constructively and collaboratively with others and to maintain a calm, respectful and inclusive environment Ability to plan and deliver professional learning related to specialist education Ability to develop strong, student‑focused relationships with whānau This is an exciting opportunity for a committed teacher and leader to help shape an important part of our school and to make a real difference for our ORS students and their families. #J-18808-Ljbffr
