About the Role Te Whatu Ora and Matawhaanui Trust seek a registered nurse, occupational therapist or social worker who will partner with Matawhaanui Trust as a Te Whatu Ora employee to engage, support and join our Tai Timu Tai Pari team. The role is based in Raahui Pookeka, Huntly and is permanent, supporting a 80‑hour fortnightly commitment. Responsibilities Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Raahui Pookeka, Kingitanga, Waikato‑Tainui and the aspirations of Māor iwi within the community as well as the broader North Waikato area. Utilise sound networks that include government, non‑government and Māor iwi providers to support assessments and interventions. Collaborate with the team to support and lead a well‑functioning mental health and addictions community team aligned with the transformation to a Māori‑led service. Engage with the wider team, consult with colleagues and assess the taangata whaiora readiness to change, identify and mitigate immediate risk and safety concerns, and provide clinical and therapeutic intervention. Demonstrate knowledge of alcohol and other drug intervention models, programmes and approaches, and apply principles of Maatauranga Māori, Kaupapa Māori and Te Tiriti principles in practice. Qualifications Registered nurse, occupational therapist or social worker with a current annual practising certificate. Minimum 2 years work experience with high‑need individuals or families experiencing significant mental health and addiction problems. Experience working within Raahui Pookeka and strong networks in Te ao Māor iwi, tikanga and te reo Māori. Commitment to the Kingitanga, values of Ngāti Mahuta, Ngāti Whaawhaakia and Te Tiriti principles, and application of kaupapa Māori approaches in healthcare settings. Strong decision‑making skills and ability to work under high‑pressure situations, with a creative, reliable and highly organised approach. Current full driver’s licence.
