Mai te hiku ki te taurapa, whikitina e te rā. From the tail of the fish to the tail of the waka, shines the sun. This whakataukī speaks to our journey across Aotearoa, one waka, one purpose, powered by the natural forces that sustain us. Meridian is Aotearoa’s largest renewable electricity producer, generating energy from the winds of Tāwhirimātea, the waters of Tangaroa, and the warmth of Tama‑nui‑te‑rā. Together, our two brands, Meridian and PowerShop, supply retail electricity to more than 400,000 homes, businesses, and farms across New Zealand. About the role Meridian is constructing the Mt Munro Wind Farm and is looking for a Safety, Health and Security Manager. You will champion and lead the implementation of safety and health plans across various project workstreams. What you’ll be doing You will act as Meridian’s key onsite Safety and Health representative during the construction phase, which includes bulk earthworks, civil works, building works, electrical installation, turbine assembly and commissioning. You will own and maintain Meridian’s project health and safety plans, ensuring contractor plans align. You will guide and support staff and contractors through building a robust safety culture and will set up and lead the onsite security team to control site access. What you’ll bring Experience leading safety and health onsite for a large construction project. Developed and implemented safety and health plans within a major infrastructure or high‑risk industrial environment. Competent use of Microsoft Office 365 and excellent verbal and written communication and influencing skills. Advanced organisational skills with the ability to self‑manage multiple assignments and competing priorities. Health and Safety accreditation is desirable. A sense of adventure, confidence to drive on 4WD tracks, and enjoyment of the outdoors in all weathers. Proximity to the Mt Munro wind farm, within a commutable distance. What we can offer An attractive, competitively reviewed salary package, plus performance incentive and employee discounts. Southern Cross Healthcare wellbeing insurance for eligible employees. Enhanced leave provisions: three company‑paid days over holiday periods, enhanced parental leave, and up to 12 additional days purchasable. Life, trauma and income protection insurance. Employee discounts on Meridian power. Why join us We’re a great place to work with ample opportunities for career development. We value and live by three guiding principles: be gutsy, be in the waka, and be a good human. We embrace diversity and inclusion, ensuring everyone feels welcomed, valued, and able to bring their whole selves to work. Sustainability is in our DNA and we actively support initiatives that reduce carbon emissions and foster community resilience.
