About the Role We are seeking rural, community‑mindful doctors to join Te Whatu Ora Taranaki’s vision of a fit‑for‑purpose integrated primary and secondary health service at the established Hāwera Hospital. The position is open for both permanent and short‑term senior or junior posts within the Rural Hospital Medicine or Emergency Medicine scope of practice. Practitioners will diagnose and treat patients in a primary or secondary care high‑acuity setting, with opportunities to follow patients admitted to the inpatient ward. The role is suited to experienced clinicians and early career consultants who wish to contribute to the next generation of rural health professionals. Key Responsibilities Be part of an experienced interdisciplinary team of medical professionals. Work in an accredited rural hospital offering RHM training. Serve a population in need and design health‑equity focused systems. Collaborate with secondary and tertiary services in an integrated manner. Operate within a progressive, friendly organisation. Deliver innovative primary‑care services. Contribute to workforce development by teaching medical students and obtaining honorary lecturer privileges.
