The hospital is characterised by a friendly, professional surgical nursing team, and offers credentialled medical practitioners and their patients access to superb facilities. These include three advanced theatres, 22 inpatient beds in comfortable, well‑equipped rooms, and a purpose‑built day stay facility. Surgical specialities include Orthopaedic and General surgery, Urology, Otolaryngology, Gastroenterology, and Gynaecological surgery. We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Theatre Coordinator (Orthopaedics) to join our team, supporting the effective delivery of elective surgical services within a busy operating theatre environment. This role is ideal for a senior perioperative nurse with strong orthopaedic experience who is passionate about patient care, operational excellence, and supporting positive surgical outcomes. Working closely with the Theatre Coordinator and Loans Coordinator, you will coordinate theatre lists, surgical bookings and daily theatre operations to ensure services run efficiently and effectively. With a strong focus on orthopaedics, you will use your clinical expertise to optimise patient flow, manage resources, and maintain seamless communication between surgeons, anaesthetists and multidisciplinary teams. As a visible leader within the department, you will provide guidance and support to theatre staff while building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and visiting specialists. You will be confident managing competing priorities and helping to create a collaborative, high‑performing team culture. While this role has a significant coordination and operational focus, you will also be comfortable stepping into the clinical environment to support surgical procedures when required. This is a full‑time permanent position (9am – 5:30pm) based in our Southern Cross Rotorua Hospital. Registered Nurse (or relevant health professional) with a current practising certificate A minimum of 5 years’ operating theatre experience Extensive orthopaedic theatre experience, including a sound understanding of orthopaedic procedures, instrumentation and theatre workflows Expert PDRP (Level 4) or working towards achieving this level Proven ability to coordinate theatre lists, surgical bookings and workflow in a fast‑paced environment Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience guiding and supporting teams Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities Ability to build strong relationships with surgeons, specialists and multidisciplinary teams Previous coordination or leadership experience within a theatre setting is desirable Competitive Rewards : Attractive remuneration package, relocation allowance and employee referral bonus scheme.
