Opportunity The Portfolio Governance Lead will oversee the Built Environment portfolio of projects, initiatives and resources to ensure they support alignment with GMCT’s strategic goals, are managed efficiently and comply with organisational standards and governance. The role is crucial in maximising the value and impact of Built Environment investments for the organisation. Key responsibilities Establish, implement and maintain portfolio governance structures, processes, templates and standards and drive standardisation across the Built Environment portfolio. Ensure alignment with the Enterprise PMO (EPMO) and organisational governance requirements. Provide central oversight of portfolio performance including schedule, cost, scope and benefits realisation. Lead preparation of portfolio reporting for Executive and Board meetings and provide analytics and recommendations, including risk themes and emerging issues. Establish and maintain portfolio‑level risk and issue management practices and lead project assurance activities including health checks, gateway reviews and compliance audits. Drive continuous improvement of PMO frameworks, tools and practices and embed a culture of accountability and data integrity. Maintain portfolio governance artefacts, including project, programme, risk, issue and dependency registers, capacity constraints and ensure consistent application of governance standards across the Built Environment portfolio. Coordinate governance forums, including Portfolio Control Groups and Project Working Groups, ensuring effective governance, accountability, timely decision making and stakeholder engagement. Qualifications Experience working in a Project Management Office (PMO) in a medium or large sized organisation. Experience with project management systems, tools and processes and their use in a PMO. Proven ability to lead portfolio governance and PMO maturity uplift. Demonstrated experience in capital or infrastructure portfolio environments. Strong experience in Executive and Board reporting. High‑level stakeholder engagement and influence capability. Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills. Successful candidate must undergo a pre‑employment medical and police check.
