Job Description

Based at Tauranga Hospital Permanent, Full‑time position. Subsidised onsite hospital gym membership, free flu vaccinations, discounted goods. About the Role We are looking for an experienced maintenance technician to operate and maintain mechanical systems and HVAC services at Tauranga Hospital. This is a permanent, full‑time opportunity. Salary will be based on skills and experience and will fall within Steps 37 of the Group 2 pay scale. Additional allowances apply for formal on‑call duties and overtime. This role is covered by the Etū collective agreement. Responsibilities Operate, maintain and repair ventilation and air conditioning systems and equipment. Undertake basic plumbing maintenance duties and determine which plumbing tasks can or cannot be performed by non‑qualified tradesmen. Lead technician for under‑sink drinking water units. Highly technical management of infrastructure systems and ancillary equipment. Identify maintenance risks on equipment. Provide a 24‑hour call‑out response when on call. Qualifications Mandatory: Hold recognised boiler and medical gas qualifications or be willing and able to obtain these within 12 months of appointment. NZ Trade Certificate or equivalent from a mechanical trade. Experience in plant and equipment operation and maintenance, including boilers, compressors, pumps, medical gas pipeline systems, and building management systems. Current driver's licence.
