Job Description
ClearPoint is hiring a permanent Principal Consultant to lead advisory engagements across New Zealand and Australia. The role As Principal Consultant, you will bridge technical depth and strategic narrative, driving clients to navigate complex digital shifts, developing target‑state architectures, and delivering high‑impact solutions on modern platforms and SaaS ecosystems. What you'll be doing Lead business and product discovery and synthesise findings into actionable roadmap narratives. Develop conceptual target‑state architectures and recommend buy‑build‑refactor‑retain strategies. Co‑own deliverables with project stakeholders, distinguishing advisory work from commercial, change‑management and client‑side activities. Manage engagement quality across scope, risk and delivery. Provide strategic and technical advisory aligned with client investment goals and board governance. Qualifications Proven track record in technology strategy, architectural leadership or RFP management for platform selection. Expertise in client delivery management and operations, designing, building and deploying digital engineering solutions. Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business‑level guidance for executive and board audiences. Experience across major enterprise ecosystems with strong integration architecture and data migration fundamentals. Track record of enabling high‑performance software delivery across teams and organisations. Confident facilitation of discovery sessions and synthesis workshops. Background in providing technical foundations for business cases and evaluation frameworks. Strong scope management and prioritisation skills, focused on “what to build” to deliver value. Hands‑on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and modern DevOps practices. Knowledge of modern front‑end frameworks (Angular, ReactJS or Vue.js) and CI/CD tooling. Agile delivery at scale (SCRUM, FDD, TDD, BDD) and familiarity with the DORA framework. Commercial awareness – comfortable with financials, day rates, margins and mark‑ups. People leadership – motivated, coaching and supportive of teams. Strong consulting craft – assessment, synthesis, recommendations and crisp report writing. Excellent communicator across technical and non‑technical audiences. Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in high‑intensity, fast‑paced environments. Problem‑solving mindset, navigating ambiguity and driving clarity.
