Job Description

Overview Apply for Specialist Pharmacy Technician – Procurement, Pharmacy at Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora, Middlemore Hospital, Auckland City, NZ. This full‑time on‑site, 12‑month fixed term contract offers opportunity to manage procurement of inpatient pharmacy medications for Counties Manukau District. Key Responsibilities Manage procurement of inpatient pharmacy medications. Provide functional leadership and day‑to‑day coordination within the Pharmacy Service. Order and control inventory, manage master data, resolve stock problems. Reconcile invoicing and finance transactions. Troubleshoot and test pharmacy systems (e.g., ePharmacy, Pyxis). Participate in medication safety reporting and quality improvement initiatives. Collaborate with pharmacy team, Counties Manukau staff, and external agencies such as hospitals, wholesalers, and PHARMAC. Qualifications & Experience A minimum of a National Certificate in Pharmacy (Pharmacy Technician) Level 5 issued by the New Zealand Qualifications Authority. Preferably a Level 6 pharmacy technician postgraduate qualification or experience in procurement/inventory. At least three years’ experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital or pharmaceutical industry setting, with procurement or inventory control experience. Knowledge of NZ Health systems and medicines. Intermediate computer skills – MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and pharmacy systems (e.g., ePharmacy, Pyxis). Analytical, financial, organisational and planning skills. Professional, collaborative, self‑managed, efficient under minimum supervision. Strong problem‑solving, communication, and lifting capacity (up to 20kg). Trustworthy, confident, dependable, proactive and a role model for Counties Manukau values.
