Our current Stock Manager has recently progressed into a Farm Manager position, creating an exciting opportunity for the right person to join our team and continue their own leadership journey. About the Business: Jeff Farm is a 2,400-hectare, 25,000 stock unit sheep, beef and deer property owned by The Salvation Army through The Edmund and Maud Sanderson Jeff Farm Charitable Trust. As well as operating a progressive commercial farming business, Jeff Farm is committed to developing the next generation of farmers through its nationally recognised cadet training programme while supporting the wider mission of The Salvation Army. About the Role: This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the day-to-day management of Jeff Farm's sheep, beef and deer enterprises. Working closely alongside the General Manager, you'll lead stock operations, oversee feed planning and livestock performance, and play a key role in coaching and developing our cadets. This role is about much more than managing stock- it's about helping shape people, driving high standards, and contributing to the long-term success of the farm. What will your responsibilities be: Lead the day-to-day management of sheep, beef and deer operations. Plan and manage feed allocation, grazing rotations and livestock performance. Ensure high standards of animal health, welfare and environmental stewardship. Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture by leading safe work practices, identifying hazards, managing risks, and ensuring compliance with Jeff Farm's health and safety systems. Coach, mentor and develop cadets through practical on-farm training. Lead by example and foster a positive team culture built around communication, accountability, trust and teamwork. Identify maintenance requirements and proactively address issues before they become larger problems. Maintain accurate farm records and contribute to planning, reporting and continuous improvement. Support the General Manager in achieving the wider objectives of Jeff Farm. Our ideal candidate will: We're looking for someone who leads by example and takes genuine pride in doing the little things well. You'll have exceptional attention to detail, be calm under pressure, and have the confidence to make sound decisions in a dynamic farming environment. You'll be passionate about developing young people, with the patience and leadership skills to coach, mentor and support our cadets as they begin their farming careers. You'll have a strong understanding of livestock management, with animal welfare always at the forefront of your decision-making. Planning feed allocation, stock rotations and day-to-day livestock operations will come naturally, while maintaining a focus on both productivity and long-term sustainability. You'll be proactive, adaptable and willing to wear many hats. You won't wait to be told what needs doing- you'll see opportunities, take ownership, and leave every job in a better state than you found it. Above all, you'll be a positive team player who represents Jeff Farm with professionalism and integrity, embraces new ideas and continuous improvement, and works alongside management to achieve the wider goals of the farm business. Our offer to you: A leadership role on one of New Zealand's leading agricultural training farms. Opportunity to mentor and develop the next generation of New Zealand farmers.
