Job Description

Clinical Nurse Specialist: Infection Prevention and Control Position Type: Permanent, part‑time (0.8 FTE) within the Quality & Risk team. Responsibilities Stewardship of Braemar’s IPC Programme, regularly reviewing to ensure currency. Act as nursing resource to provide expert advice and education to staff, patients and whānau. Consult with clinical staff to implement and evaluate infection prevention measures for staff and patients with infectious diseases. Contribute to implementation of systems that collect, analyse and recommend improvements to IPC practices across departments. Engage organisationally to enhance IPC practices and capacity. Ensure new employees receive screening and orientation specific to infection prevention. Support the business to identify and address IPC issues promptly. Complete daily MDRO surveillance of booked admissions. Qualifications Current registration and annual practising certificate with the Nursing Council of New Zealand. Minimum of five years of post‑graduate clinical experience in a specialised area. Post‑graduate certificate, diploma or higher in a relevant area of nursing or health leadership. Proven success in quality improvement activities demonstrating evidence‑based practice and compassionate care. Strong communication, interpersonal and critical‑thinking skills. Team‑oriented with ability to build relationships across the organisation. Approachable, proactive, with a positive attitude. Excellent facilitation, coordination and time‑management skills. Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and inclusion of diverse backgrounds. Current expert‑level or higher nursing portfolio via a PDRP.
