Job Description
Role Oral & Maxillofacial Non‑Training Registrar – Permanent Full‑time position at Waikato Hospital for the 2027/2028 recruitment cycle. About the Hospital Waikato Hospital is a teaching and tertiary referral centre serving approximately 1million people, offering all surgical specialties on one campus, with a 24‑hour theatre complex and over 34000 surgical procedures annually. Role Overview This role provides regional acute, elective and outpatient Oral and Maxillofacial Services as part of the OMS team. You will work closely with ORL Head and Neck Surgery, ICU, and oncology colleagues. Responsibilities Deliver acute, elective and outpatient OMS care, including dento‑alveolar, orthognathic, benign and malignant pathology, and TMJ surgery. Participate in a 24/7 OMS service, contributing to after‑hours on‑call 1 in 3 basis. Support teaching and development of trainees, house surgeons and visiting medical and dental students. Attend weekly teaching sessions, radiology meetings, morbidity & mortality meetings, and trauma meetings. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for complex head and neck oncology clinical services. Qualifications PGY3 or equivalent, with at least two years post‑graduate hospital experience. Dually qualified in Medicine and Dentistry or a dentally qualified applicant. Experience in Plastic and/or ENT surgery is a bonus but not required. Eligibility to work in NewZealand. Training & Development You will gain extensive experience across a wide variety of settings and can participate in training and research opportunities through the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons accreditation.
