We are seeking a Fixed Term paternity cover for a Learning Specialist role at Rotorua Library , Te Aka Mauri . The primary focus of this position is the delivery and development of our Preschool Programmes, ensuring high‑quality, engaging and culturally responsive learning experiences for tamariki and their whānau. The role also contributes to the wider range of library learning programmes that support literacy, creativity and lifelong learning across the community. The Learning Specialist is responsible for coordinating programmes and events that activate library spaces, maintaining strong relationships with partners and stakeholders, and providing specialist advice on learning resources and services. The position also supports customer service functions as required. Applicants will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Teaching, Education, Library and Information Science or a related discipline, along with proficiency in Te Reo Māori and confidence working in Māori settings. Strong communication skills, experience delivering educational programmes, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment are essential. A full driver licence is required. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to early learning while supporting an inclusive, community‑centred library environment. This role will be part‑time, 20 hours per week on a fixed term contract of 6 months.
