Nelson based Trip on and trip off Bring your can‑do attitude We are seeking an experienced Chief Fishing Vessel Trawler Marine Engineer to join our team of 1,200 employees. Responsibilities Maintain the mechanical and electrical performance of the vessel’s propulsion, fishing, processing and ancillary systems. Operate independently with strong problem‑solving skills and a commitment to preventative maintenance systems. Ensure safe and efficient operation of all vessel systems. Promote safety, teamwork and adherence to all regulations and procedures. Provide resilience and leadership while out at sea. Qualifications Minimum MEC 4 and MEC 3 tickets for the Chief Engineer role. Proven engineering experience on deep‑sea fishing vessels. Experience managing mechanical and electrical systems on a trawler. Legal entitlement to live and work in New Zealand. Completion of a satisfactory pre‑employment drug test and physical medical assessment. Working Conditions Trips last between 2 and 6 weeks with a trip on, trip off rotation. Shift hours are typically 12 hours. PPE is supplied and meals are provided by the onboard cook. Competitive safety culture and teamwork are essential.
