Job Description

Job Overview 1x permanent full‑time opportunity for a Park Ranger based at Wenderholm Regional Park, requiring a variable roster that includes weekends, public holidays, and on‑call duties. The role involves hands‑on work in Auckland’s scenic great outdoors and will require working across various Northern Regional Parks. You will join a team of 21 rangers and be responsible for enabling safe and enjoyable outdoor recreation and education experiences while conserving and protecting natural and cultural heritage. Key Responsibilities Engage with visitors to promote good park behaviours. Coordinate conservation work and manage relationships with volunteers and stakeholders. Assist in planning and delivering work programmes and events. Support environmental education initiatives, both formal and informal. Maintain park assets and contribute to operational upkeep. Manage volunteers and external stakeholders to achieve conservation and recreation outcomes, including overseeing and auditing contractor performance. Carry out general park maintenance and deliver historic site protection programmes. Support the ranger team with maintenance of walking and mountain bike tracks. Plan and conduct pest control and native planting activities. Benefits Salary in the range $65,493 – $77,050 depending on skillset and experience.
