Job Description

Location: Wellington Regional Hospital. Contract: Casual. About the Role We are seeking a Patient Administrator who supports a patient's journey from referral to a CCDHB treatment provider, right through to discharge. The role is based in the Wellington Hospital but supports all three sites in the Capital & Coast District Health Board on a roster Monday - Friday, working up to 40 hours per week between 7:30 and 17:30. Responsibilities Provide quality, customer‑focused reception services to patients attending clinics and responding to phone enquiries. Liaise with clinical teams and strengthen both clinical and non‑clinical relationships to deliver the best patient journey. Maintain the smooth running of services, ensuring booking protocols are followed and adhered to in order to keep waiting times to a minimum. Review patient information recorded in the Patient Management System. Follow up with services for patients who have missed appointments. About the Team / Service Location The team is diverse, fun, multicultural and hardworking, focusing on the Patient Journey where no two days are the same. The Outpatient Reception and Community Health teams provide high‑quality, efficient and effective administrative support to clinical teams within CCDHB, enabling them to focus on patient care. About You Ability to deal with ambiguity; comfortable handling risk and uncertainty. Strong decision‑making skills. Good Microsoft Office Suite skills. Effective time‑management skills and the ability to meet delivery commitments. Ability to work independently. Self‑motivated and self‑aware. Experience working with cultures other than your own. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate with teams or the public when distressed or angry. Knowledge of the Privacy Act and other legislation protecting confidentiality.
