Consultant Psychiatrist – Adult General & Inpatient Services, Christchurch | Full‑time & Part‑time Opportunities Christchurch Hospital / Waitaha Canterbury – Permanent full‑time and part‑time positions. About the Role We are seeking Consultant Psychiatrists to join our Adult General and Inpatient Mental Health Services in Christchurch. These opportunities are available on both a full‑time and part‑time basis. In this role you will work as part of an integrated multidisciplinary service providing specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment and ongoing care for adults experiencing acute and complex mental health presentations. Your responsibilities will include: Facilitating new admissions, inpatient care and follow‑up to ensure continuity of care across the service. Delivering high‑quality acute and long‑term treatment that meets individual needs. Contributing to service innovation and continuous improvement. Taking a leadership role within established multidisciplinary teams and supporting the development of person‑centred models of care. About the Team / Service / Location Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury plans, funds and delivers healthcare services to almost 700,000 people across the Canterbury region. About You Vocational registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Experience in adult mental health, including inpatient, community and psychiatric emergency services. Commitment to high‑quality, patient‑centred care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Interest in service development, quality improvement and innovation.
