Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Project Coordinator to join us deliver some of Aotearoa New Zealand's most important climate‑related work with the Climate Change Commission. The Commission was established by the Climate Change Response (Zero Carbon) Amendment Act 2019 and plays a key role in developing and implementing clear and stable climate‑change policies. It provides independent, expert advice to the Government on mitigating and adapting to climate change and monitors progress toward emissions‑reduction and adaptation goals. The Commission’s Programme Management Office (PMO) is looking for a Project Coordinator to join our small and friendly team. The PMO supports the planning and monitoring of the Commission’s advice and evidence programmes, which are structured around reports that provide advice and monitor progress of New Zealand’s climate‑change response. This role would suit someone with prior experience in project management or coordination of advice or business projects, who is skilled at building relationships across the organisation, champions tikanga Māori‑led approaches, and excels at planning and coordinating. We are exploring how Microsoft Copilot and other AI‑enabled tools can improve project delivery. We need someone who can help us work smarter and evolve project management practices across our work, using technologies and tools appropriately for approved purposes, to streamline planning, automate routine project administration, and support high‑quality project reporting and communications. Your responsibilities will include: Planning and coordinating project schedules, milestones and actions Working closely with and supporting Project Directors and project teams Organising and supporting workshops, meetings and external engagement Producing high‑quality project documentation Monitoring project budgets, risk and issues Innovating and improving Commission project management practices through appropriate use of AI for approved purposes, improving tools and templates, and assisting project teams on their use Recognising Te Ao Māori is a key priority for the Commission. We work with the Crown’s Treaty partner and grow our capability and capacity to accurately reflect Māori views and Te Tiritio Waitangi in our work. You will have the following: Experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills Proven project methodology knowledge (PRINCE2, PMI etc.) and a relevant tertiary qualification Understanding of risk management and quality assurance controls across the project lifecycle Experience using Microsoft Copilot and AI tools High level of proficiency with Microsoft 365 products, including Planner, SharePoint and Teams Highly effective planning, time and resource management skills in a complex work environment Understanding of the principles of Te Tiritio Waitangi, te ao Māori and experience engaging with Iwi/Māori We embrace diversity and inclusion and are committed to equality and equity.
