Parks And Gardens Maintenance Officer – Utility Reserves The Christchurch City council Parks team are excited to be growing and we want you to be part of our whānau. As a Parks and Gardens Maintenance Officer – Utility Reserves, you will be part of one of our maintenance teams responsible for delivering amenity services across a wide range of drainage reserves throughout our beautiful city. Working within the community, you will be exposed to the diverse cultures and beliefs that make up Ōtautahi Christchurch. You will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team undertaking the following duties: Push and ride‑on mowing Line trimming and edging Hedge trimming Spraying and weed control Planting and garden maintenance Emptying public bins Cleaning BBQ facilities Cleaning water fountains You will have a love for parks and gardens with a specific focus on amenity maintenance. You will have a relevant qualification or a strong background in landscaping, gardening and general maintenance as well as leadership experience. You will be a team player with a passion for maintaining parks and amenity areas to a high standard. You'll enjoy working collaboratively while also being confident working independently with minimal supervision. To be successful in this role, you will have: A minimum of three years' experience in a similar role or environment. A full, current driver’s licence. A Level 4 National Certificate in Horticulture (or equivalent qualification), or extensive relevant industry experience. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
