Asphalt Plant Operator

Overview The Higgins Team in Hamilton is seeking an Operator to join the crew at the asphalt plant. You will be part of a small, close‑knit team that manufactures and supplies mix to both external and internal clients. You will operate the Asphalt Plant and associated equipment safely and efficiently. We welcome applications from experienced plant operators, as well as those with a manufacturing or mechanical background who are keen to build a career in civil manufacturing. If you’re motivated, safety focused, and eager to learn, we can support you to grow into the role. Requirements 2+ years relevant experience Experience operating fixed and mobile plant and machinery is ideal Experience working safely around mobile plant, high‑temperature processes and hazardous substances Familiarity with handling bitumen with D & F endorsements would be an advantage but not essential Full Class 1 licence is essential – WTR and Class 2 are desirable (support provided to obtain these) Flexibility to work a roster of days and nights Good verbal and written communication skills Basic computer skills A strong commitment to health and safety Benefits Full‑time permanent role (40‑60 hours per week) Competitive hourly rate ($30–$32 per hour) KiwiSaver employer contribution matched up to 4% Opportunity to upskill and gain further licences Retail discounts for you and your family Work Environment Higgins is committed to a drug‑free workplace.
