About the Role Reporting to the Environmental Manager NZ & Pacific, the Project Environmental & Sustainability Manager will provide specialist environmental and sustainability leadership across multiple major infrastructure projects, including DJT, Pukete, Te Puke, and the future Whenuapai Red Hills project. Supporting projects across the New Zealand and Pacific business unit, you will work collaboratively with project teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, from tender and early contractor involvement (ECI) through to planning, mobilisation, construction, and demobilisation. Key Responsibilities Provide environmental and sustainability leadership across multiple projects and business units. Oversee environmental management throughout project tenders, planning, mobilisation, construction, and demobilisation phases. Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of project environmental management systems. Ensure projects comply with all relevant environmental legislation, resource consents, approvals, and company management system requirements. Manage environmental inputs into tenders, including resource consent strategies, methodology development, risk assessments, and environmental submissions. Develop, review, and implement Environmental Management Plans, sub-plans, Construction Execution Procedures (CEP), and Job Safety and Environmental Analyses (JSEA). Monitor, record, and report environmental performance, sustainability initiatives, and key project metrics. Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventative actions within agreed timeframes. Conduct internal audits and support ISO and external audit requirements. Provide specialist environmental and sustainability support, mentoring, and training to HSE Advisors and project teams. Represent the business with regulators, councils, clients, consultants, and environmental subcontractors. Support project teams in managing compliance issues and liaise with regulators to achieve successful outcomes. Participate in project risk assessments and contribute to the development of risk control measures. Identify emerging trends in environmental incidents and hazards and implement improvement initiatives. Utilise project learnings to contribute to the ongoing development of company management systems. Drive environmental and sustainability targets while promoting a culture of continuous improvement. About You Tertiary qualification in Environmental Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of 6 years’ experience in environmental management within the construction or infrastructure industry. Demonstrated experience supporting major infrastructure projects and early contractor involvement (ECI) processes. Strong understanding of New Zealand resource management legislation, council planning requirements, and resource consenting processes. Experience developing and implementing environmental management systems and sustainability initiatives. ICAM or equivalent incident investigation qualification. ISO Environmental Management Systems Auditor qualification or equivalent. Proven ability to influence project teams and build strong relationships with clients, regulators, consultants, and stakeholders. Strong report writing, analytical, and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency using document management and incident management systems. Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and lead environmental outcomes across multiple projects. Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with experience delivering environmental training and mentoring junior team members.
