About the Role We're looking for an experienced General Surgical nurse to join our nursing team as the Clinical Nurse Specialist - General Surgery. As a positive role model in clinical leadership you will work across the General Surgery service. By working collaboratively with the whole team you will ensure high standards of care are maintained and improved patient outcomes are provided. Providing valuable support and education to patients and staff, your clinical expertise will allow you to be the nursing clinical lead for patient care with our complex surgical patients, including specialist wound care and nutritional regimes. About You Your broad general surgical knowledge and extensive recent experience will place you perfectly as a specialist resource for the team, and your enthusiasm and passion will drive the provision of education to new and existing staff as well as nursing students. Self‑motivated, organized with exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide range of people is paramount in this role. You'll be an expert nurse and either hold, or be working towards, a relevant postgraduate qualification. Skills and Experience You will be an experienced senior Registered Nurse with a current NZ practicing certificate – this is a senior nursing role. Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals. The ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution‑focused. You will be an advanced nursing practitioner with excellent time management, interpersonal and organisational skills. Ability to share and demonstrate specialist knowledge and skills. You will hold, or currently be working towards, Level 8 postgraduate qualification. Ability to develop nursing standards with experience in teaching, mentoring and coaching.
