As a Junior Accountant in our Private Enterprise team, you’ll work with the small and medium‑sized businesses that drive Aotearoa’s economy - gaining hands‑on experience while you study toward becoming a Chartered Accountant. Fuelling prosperity for New Zealand, for all New Zealanders Your Day-to-Day | Ngā mahi o ia rā Collaborate with the Private Enterprise compliance team to support New Zealand’s privately-owned businesses in meeting their goals. Assist in preparing annual accounts and tax returns, or monthly management work, initially focusing on smaller and more straightforward clients (including data entry, spreadsheet work, drafting accounts, etc.). Respond to client queries and support the compliance team in managing client relationships concerning income tax, GST, and other indirect taxes. Attend in-house or external training to enhance your knowledge and proficiency in using professional accounting software. Apply your learning directly to practical challenges, gaining hands-on experience. Provide insightful financial solutions and advice to help businesses thrive. Balance your work commitments with part-time study as you progress toward becoming a Chartered Accountant. Embrace opportunities for professional development and career advancement within the firm. Assist other team members with administrative tasks as needed. You - What you bring to our team | Ōu tā koha ki te whānau A recent high school graduate or first-year student pursuing Accounting at a university, tertiary institution, or through the CAANZ CA Fundamentals pathway, with plans to obtain a Chartered Accountant (CA) professional qualification upon completion of their studies. Flexibility to use up to 7.5 hours of unpaid study leave per week to attend your tertiary classes and paid study leave to prepare for exams and internal assessments Flexible part-time study options, allowing you to balance work, study, and social commitments, with an extended timeframe to complete your degree. Support, equivalent to the above, for those pursuing a postgraduate CA professional qualification to become a Chartered Accountant.
