Job Description
Role Description The Asbestos Consultant is a full-time, on-site role based in Auckland. This position is responsible for conducting asbestos surveys and inspections in residential, commercial, and industrial properties, including sampling and coordinating laboratory analysis. The role includes preparing clear, accurate technical reports, advising clients on asbestos management plans, and supporting the planning and oversight of asbestos removal projects to ensure regulatory compliance. The consultant will also perform site clearance inspections, provide practical health and safety guidance, and collaborate with internal laboratory and consultancy teams. Regular client communication, adherence to New Zealand regulations and guidelines, and participation in continuous improvement of Aerem’s environmental consultancy services are key aspects of the role. Qualifications Strong technical skills in asbestos surveying, sampling, and inspection, with knowledge of relevant New Zealand regulations and industry standards. Experience interpreting laboratory results and preparing clear, concise reports for a range of stakeholders. Understanding of asbestos removal management, clearance procedures, and practical health and safety controls on‑site. Awareness of broader environmental consulting practices, including mould assessments and general environmental risk evaluation. Excellent communication and client‑facing skills, with the ability to explain technical information in accessible language. High level of attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Relevant certification or training in asbestos surveying/consultancy; tertiary qualification in science, environmental management, occupational hygiene, or a related field is advantageous. Current full driver’s license and willingness to travel to various sites within the Auckland region and occasionally across New Zealand.
