About the Role Te Pūriri o Te Ora, Regional Cancer and Blood Service, based at Auckland City Hospital, is the leading provider of cancer care in the Auckland region, serving a large and varied population of around 1.7 million people. This role is available to join the Cancer Support team – a team of Psychologists and Social Workers who provide integrated psychological and social services to cancer patients and their whānau. The team sits within a wider Northern Regional team and works closely with members of the multidisciplinary team, cancer NGOs and community‑based supports. This role is predominantly outpatient based. About the Team / Service / Location This is a busy and rewarding area to work in; you will be working alongside three other Social Workers and five psychologists, allowing for ongoing collaboration and learning from one another. Working out of Te Pūriri o Te Ora, based mainly at Auckland City Hospital, and providing community support as needed. You will also be part of a wider Adult and Women's Health social work service. About You As the ideal person for this role, you will have the following skills and attributes: A recognised Social Work qualification with full registration with the New Zealand Social Workers Registration Board and a current annual practising certificate. Experience working in a hospital or health setting. Able to navigate complex dynamics with the needs and best interests of the patient and whānau in view. A compassionate and experienced Social Worker with a proven ability to apply best‑practice skills that address the needs of people experiencing cancer. Rigorous psycho‑social assessment skills, the ability to think critically and develop patient‑centred interventions and strong advocacy skills are central to this role. Willingness to contribute to projects aimed at improving holistic care and equitable outcomes for people and whānau experiencing cancer.
