Senior Solutions Architect

Overview Senior Solutions/Applications Architect – Dynamics 365, .NET & Azure. Our client is looking to hire a Senior Solution Architect with experience in designing and supporting enterprise-scale .NET applications progressing to D365. You will have a strong understanding of application lifecycle management, support models, and technical debt management. This will be a Wellington-based permanent role. Responsibilities Hands-on background designing and supporting enterprise-scale .NET applications progressing to D365. Proven experience working in complex, regulated, or mission-critical enterprise environments. Apply knowledge of application lifecycle management, support models, and technical debt management. Understand how to implement solutions using Dynamics 365 and determine when functionality should be configured in D365 versus built as a custom .NET solution. Demonstrated experience migrating legacy .NET applications to the cloud (Azure preferred). Ability to assess existing architectures and define modernisation and re-platforming strategies. Experience re-imagining legacy applications as cloud-native solutions using Azure services. Understanding of BizTalk Server for enterprise integration patterns. Experience modernising integrations (e.g., transitioning from BizTalk to Azure Integration Services, APIs, or event-driven patterns). Solid understanding of enterprise integration, messaging, and data flow design. Strong architectural judgement on when to implement custom .NET applications deployed in Azure. Understanding of Azure-based solutions using App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, Service Bus, APIs, and SQL. Ability to balance platform capabilities vs custom development to achieve maintainable outcomes. Deep understanding of business processes and how processes are realised within a solution. Proven ability to work closely with business users and domain experts. Strong skills translating business requirements into solution designs. Comfortable facilitating workshops, explaining technical options in plain language, and guiding decision-making. Experience producing solution architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical standards. Understanding of security, identity, non-functional requirements, and compliance in enterprise systems. Ability to provide architectural oversight and guide delivery teams. Proven experience managing and governing delivery vendors, including setting clear architectural expectations, delivery standards, and accountability for outcomes. Ability to provide architectural oversight and assurance of vendor-delivered solutions, ensuring alignment with agreed designs, enterprise standards, and target-state architecture. Strong skills in vendor engagement and performance management, including reviewing solution designs, challenging assumptions, managing dependencies and risks, and ensuring effective collaboration with internal teams and business stakeholders.
