Teaching and supervision are recognised as core consultant responsibilities, not add-ons Opportunities across Health New Zealand We’re recruiting Transplant Hematologists to work in secondary and tertiary hospitals across the country, delivering both advanced subspecialty care and comprehensive general Hematology. Clinical services could include Autologous and allogeneic stem cell transplantation Cellular therapies Acute leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma Hemostasis, thrombosis, and bleeding disorder Plasma exchange General clinical and laboratory Hematology You’ll manage inpatient and outpatient services, contribute to multidisciplinary tumour boards, participate in clinical trials, and supervise trainees. Additionally, many centres hold Royal Australasian College of Physicians training accreditation, with teaching and mentorship embedded naturally into everyday practice. Salary, benefits and leave Salary The average salary package for Hematologists in New Zealand is USD ~$193,814 (NZD $343,500) Packages are comprised of a base salary based on experience, plus allowances, and superannuation per the ASMS collective agreement Benefits an annual continuing medical education (CME) allowance of USD ~$9,027 (NZD $16,000) paid 3-month sabbaticals every 6 years your indemnity insurance covered by Health NZ your professional fees and subscriptions fully reimbursed complimentary visa and immigration support a tailored relocation package to make your move, if eligible. What you need to work here Registration: Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and a current Annual Practising Certificate. International applicants will typically hold qualifications equivalent to the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (Hematology), with experience in allogeneic and/or autologous stem cell transplantation and cellular therapies. Visa: Most international applicants will require a work visa to practise in New Zealand. Health New Zealand's Health Immigration Service provides complimentary support, so you're not navigating the process alone. Typical pathways include the Straight to Residence visa for Transplant Hematologists, or an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) as a first step.
