We are looking for a compassionate, experienced Social Worker to provide frontline support, advocacy, crisis response, and case management to clients accessing our services. About the role As a Social Worker, you will provide client‑centred social work services to individuals and whānau accessing the Mission. You will work alongside people experiencing complex challenges, helping to stabilise immediate situations while supporting longer‑term wellbeing and positive outcomes. The role includes participation in the Mission’s drop‑in (duty) social work service, provide social work support to clients accessing the night shelters, the day programmes and transitional housing, ensuring accessible, responsive, and high‑quality support for people at all stages of need. Social Workers work collaboratively across teams and with external partners to support sustainable outcomes for clients. The social work role will include some evening work supporting clients in the shelters. Key responsibilities Provide assessment, case management, crisis response, advocacy, and follow‑up support Deliver social work support across duty services, night shelters, day programmes, and transitional housing Work collaboratively with internal teams, whānau, community organisations, and government agencies Maintain accurate records, case notes, reporting, and professional standards What you’ll bring Registered Social Worker with a current APC and relevant case management experience Experience supporting people with complex needs and responding effectively in crisis situations Strong communication, relationship‑building, advocacy, and documentation skills A collaborative, strengths‑based approach with cultural competency and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi Alignment with the mission, values, and Christian ethos of Christchurch City Mission Why join us In return, we offer a rewarding role within a fun and supportive team environment where no two days are the same.
