Job Description

A great place to work. With great work to do. Ours is a meaningful and impactful role, as a kaitiaki (caretakers) of the financial services in Aotearoa. We oversee a market that does right by everyone, ensuring better outcomes for all New Zealanders. Our role as a kaitiaki is brought to life by our values; Look to the Horizon, Help the Team Work, Make the Calls and Open Hearts, Open Minds. Join us as a Product Lead, Corporate Platforms , where you’ll own and shape how the FMA’s core corporate systems deliver value for the organisation. These platforms include HR, finance and Microsoft-based tools that underpin how our people work every day. This role sits at the intersection of business strategy, technology, governance and delivery. You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation to understand needs, set direction, and ensure corporate platforms are used effectively to support organisational outcomes. You’ll take a portfolio view across the FMA’s corporate platforms, helping to align investment, reduce duplication, manage sequencing and ensure improvement work is prioritised against organisational value, risk and capacity. You’ll partner with platform stakeholders, delivery teams, governance and assurance functions to develop roadmaps, prioritise initiatives, and ensure what is agreed is ultimately delivered. Your mahi will include but is not limited to: Owning and shaping the product direction for corporate platforms, with a focus on business value and outcomes. Working with stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into clear portfolio priorities, investment trade-offs, roadmaps, sequencing decisions and delivery plans. Partnering with delivery teams to support effective execution and ensure commitments are followed through. Engaging with governance, risk and assurance teams to support proportionate, well‑considered decision‑making. Providing informed challenge and oversight when working with vendors and technical specialists. Ensuring corporate platforms are well aligned as a portfolio, fit for purpose, sustainable, and support the FMA’s strategic objectives. We’re looking for someone comfortable operating at a strategic and cross‑functional level. You enjoy working across complexity and are confident engaging with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders to drive clarity and outcomes. You have enough technical understanding to ask the right questions and assess advice critically, while also being able to translate complex concepts into clear, business focused conversations. You’re able to take a broad portfolio view across systems, risks, dependencies and priorities, without becoming overly focused on platform detail. You’re likely to bring experience as a Product Manager, Product Lead, or Senior Business Analyst, with exposure to road mapping, prioritisation and risk analysis across enterprise or corporate platforms. Experience working with HR, finance or Microsoft-based systems will be particularly valuable. You’ll also bring: Demonstrated experience partnering with diverse areas of the business and balancing competing priorities. Experience working across both process improvement and delivery, rather than specialising in only one. Strong judgement and the confidence to challenge constructively, including when engaging with vendors. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences. A strategic, curious mindset and interest in enabling better outcomes through modern platforms and ways of working. We offer a comprehensive range of benefits, including: 4% KiwiSaver employer contribution Health and life insurance cover Paid leave over the Christmas period The ability to swap public holidays for days that hold personal significance Exceptional learning and development opportunities, including technical training and leadership programmes At the FMA, we’re committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to bring their authentic selves to work. We also offer a range of wellness and social activities to support both personal and professional wellbeing and help our people genuinely connect with one another.
