About this position The Systems Engineer is an experienced IT infrastructure professional who leads, delivers, and supports BAU and project work. The role keeps Ravensdown’s core infrastructure robust, reliable, secure, high performing, and fit for purpose, while identifying opportunities to better align technology with business strategy. What you’ll do Align infrastructure services with Ravensdown’s strategy and business needs. Manage the lifecycle, availability, performance, and resilience of key infrastructure components and endpoints. Plan, design, implement, and support infrastructure across cloud, storage, networking, security, operating systems, virtualisation, backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, and related applications. Support automation, infrastructure as code, and cloud modernisation initiatives to improve reliability, scalability, and efficiency. Support operational standards, monitoring, and cost optimisation across all platforms. Provide after‑hours, troubleshooting, and on‑call support as required. Log incidents, resolve technical issues, and create knowledge articles to support future resolution. Manage assigned projects, including scope, timelines, budgets, resources, risks, mitigations, and stakeholder communication. Support SecOps activities and work with the Security team to strengthen infrastructure security and resilience. Mentor Service Desk Engineers and contribute to their development through knowledge sharing and practical guidance. Stay informed on Ravensdown’s IT programme of work and support dependent business platforms. Identify technology improvement opportunities and contribute to proposals and recommendations. About you The role requires demonstrated practical experience and a thorough understanding of core infrastructure services. The candidate should be dedicated to continuous improvement, highly collaborative, and able to engage with stakeholders both within and outside the business. The position involves working with a collaborative team, where maintaining a positive attitude is important. Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. At least five year's experience in IT infrastructure, systems engineering, or a related area. Strong technical problem‑solving skills, with the ability to own issues through to resolution. Strong knowledge of enterprise Microsoft cloud services, including Microsoft 365. Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms, including AWS and Azure. Good understanding of end-user computing environments, including build, management, and deployment practices. Experience using project methodologies and project management skills to deliver multiple projects. Experience working in multi‑vendor environments and building strong vendor relationships. Experience with desktop and application virtualisation platforms and tools. Relevant industry certifications from Cisco, Microsoft, AWS, or similar providers. Strong networking and security knowledge. Experience with IT systems that interface with plant equipment. Ravensdown is committed to a drug and alcohol free workplace.
