Trees for Survival Charitable Trust Waikato Part time, Contract, FTTE up to: 0.1, Start Date: 10/08/2026, End Date: 09/08/2027 General, Environmental Education English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts Trees for Survival (TfS) is a charitable trust delivering a hands‑on environmental restoration and education programme to primary and secondary school students throughout Aotearoa New Zealand. Our programme takes students, whānau, and local communities on a rewarding journey of growing native seedlings at school and planting them alongside waterways and on erosion‑prone land. Through this experience, participants learn about the vital role of riparian planting in climate action, biodiversity restoration, and waterway rehabilitation. We are currently seeking a passionate facilitator to support our programme in the Coromandel region, with the facilitator responsible for a cluster of 7 schools. About the role This is a part‑time contractor position, averaging approximately 30 hours per school each year. As a facilitator, you will lead, coordinate and support the successful delivery of the Trees for Survival programme within your allocated schools and communities. Key responsibilities include: building and maintaining relationships with schools, community groups, and landowners coordinating annual potting‑on days during September and October conducting plant species counts in November and February organising and facilitating school planting days between May and August undertaking site assessments and monitoring during January and February collecting programme data and preparing reports on planting outcomes supporting schools to engage students in meaningful environmental restoration activities We are looking for someone who: is proactive, reliable, and enjoys seeing projects through to completion works well independently and as part of a small, passionate, and professional team has strong organisational and relationship‑building skills enjoys working with schools, community groups, and volunteers has a sound understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the native flora of Aotearoa New Zealand is enthusiastic about environmental education and restoration Apply now If you are passionate about environmental restoration and education and would like to help inspire young people across the Coromandel region, we would love to hear from you.
