Job Description
Full-time position (1.0FTE), MondaytoFriday, based in Tauranga. Deliver specialist addiction nursing care that supports recovery, wellbeing, and lasting change. About the Role Join the Bay of Plenty Addiction Service (BOPAS) and play a key role in supporting whāhi'ā through community-based substance withdrawal management. You will assess individuals with substance use disorders, develop withdrawal treatment plans, and coordinate care across a variety of settings including homes, respite facilities, and inpatient services. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team and community partners, you will support safe withdrawal, provide clinical advice, and contribute to education initiatives that strengthen addiction services across the region. Team, Service, and Location BOPAS is the specialist adult addiction service for the Bay of Plenty, providing assessment, treatment, and recovery‑focused support for people experiencing substance use disorders. The team works closely with community mental health services, NGO addiction providers, inpatient services, and primary care to deliver integrated and person‑centred care. As part of the wider Adult Community Mental Health and Addiction Service, you will join a skilled and supportive multidisciplinary team committed to achieving positive outcomes for whāhi'ā and their whānau. About You You are an experienced Registered Nurse with a passion for addiction and mental health nursing. You thrive in a role that combines clinical assessment, care coordination, education, collaboration, and you are confident working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. You bring strong organisational skills, sound clinical judgement, and a commitment to supporting recovery through evidence-based and culturally responsive practice. Current registration with the NZNC and a current Annual Practicing Certificate Experience working within mental health and addiction treatment services Knowledge of and familiarity with the Te Pou Substance Withdrawal Management Guidelines Strong clinical assessment, care planning, and coordination skills Ability to work autonomously while maintaining strong multidisciplinary relationships Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills Commitment to recovery-focused, culturally safe, and person-centred care Full New Zealand driver’s licence We welcome applications from our Māori, Pacific, disabled, and rainbow communities. #J-18808-Ljbffr
