Lakes Bowel Screening Health Promotion and Outreach Service Coordinator About the Role Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is firmly grounded in the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and is committed to building a health system that serves all NewZealanders. This full‑time, 1.0FTE fixed‑term position (9months) requires a senior Health Promoter to raise awareness and participation in the free National Bowel Screening Programme in the Taupō/Tūrangi region, with a focus on Māori and Pacific communities. Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Develop and implement promotional activities to increase participation of eligible people, especially Māori & Pacific residents aged 58‑74. Complete targeted outreach phone calls and text messages with participants. Attend or coordinate workshops on marae, in community settings or workplaces to encourage completion of screening test kits. Proactively seek opportunities to promote bowel screening with diverse community organisations, health providers and workplaces. Develop and implement a communication and social media plan aligned with key targets and strategies for bowel screening. Maintain strong relationships with health and social community groups. About the Team, Service & Location The Lakes region offers modern general hospitals in Rotorua and Taupo and a vibrant, multicultural community. Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora aims to achieve a 60% screening rate for all eligible people. Essential Qualifications Established community networks and engagement experience with Māori and/or Pacific communities. Background in health promotion and/or education, with at least fouryears of work in a health setting. Demonstrated experience proactively developing engagement ideas and delivering innovative solutions. Full New Zealand Driver’s License. Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills. Desirable Qualifications Under‑graduate education in a health‑care profession. Event management experience. Communications, design or social‑media experience.
