About the Role As a Payroll Officer, you will deliver high‑quality payroll services and provide excellent customer support to employees and managers. You will work collaboratively with Payroll and HR Shared Services teams to ensure payroll processes are completed accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with payroll legislation, the Holidays Act, and collective employment agreements. Key Responsibilities Provide accurate and timely payroll information and support to internal and external stakeholders, including ACC and WellNZ. Process and maintain time and attendance information. Set up and maintain employee payroll records, including tax code, KiwiSaver and union deduction changes. Calculate back pays, overpayments, parental leave payments, leave cash‑ups and other payroll adjustments. Check payroll reports and complete audit requirements. Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and payment queries. Respond to employee enquiries professionally, confidentially and empathetically. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function. Build strong working relationships with managers, employees and key stakeholders. Assist with training and support other team members where required. About You Previous payroll processing experience and a strong understanding of payroll practices. Knowledge of the Holidays Act and employment‑related payroll requirements. Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Strong data entry and typing skills. Well‑developed Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel and Word. Exceptional customer service and communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion. Strong organisational, time‑management and prioritisation skills. Capacity to remain calm and effective under pressure. Collaborative approach and willingness to work across teams. Desirable Experience working within the health sector or a similarly complex environment. Experience working with collective employment agreements (MECAs) and large‑scale payroll systems.
