Job Description
Job Description Te Haeata/The Opportunity Want to do more than gather requirements? Due to an internal promotion, we have a rare opportunity to step into a Business Analyst role with real strategic reach. We're looking for someone who can work confidently with senior leaders, bring sharp thinking to complex challenges, and help shape better ways of working across the organisation. This is not a traditional delivery‑focused BA role centred on user stories and systems requirements. It is a role for someone who can connect strategy to action, challenge assumptions, improve processes, and influence outcomes that matter. You will join a well‑established team where the foundations are in place and the opportunity is now to bring your expertise and lift performance, strengthen alignment, and identify where we can achieve better outcomes through smarter processes and sharper business insight. You'll work across a broad portfolio, engaging with senior stakeholders to understand priorities, test thinking, frame problems clearly, and support decisions that improve how work gets done. What You'll Do Partner with senior leaders and stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, emerging issues, and opportunities for improvement. Provide analysis and insight that helps shape decisions, clarify problems, and identify practical pathways forward. Challenge thinking constructively, ask the right questions, and bring a strong outcome focus to conversations and planning. Review and improve business processes, frameworks, and ways of working to support greater efficiency, consistency, and impact. Translate complexity into clear options, recommendations, and actions that support progress. Work across initiatives and business areas to connect the dots, identify interdependencies, and support successful change. Build trusted relationships and influence across a wide stakeholder group, including senior leaders. Ō Pūkenga/Skills And Experience Proven experience in business analysis, advisory, or a similar role in a complex organisation. The ability to operate confidently at both strategic and operational levels. Strong facilitation, problem‑framing, and analytical skills. Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the confidence to work with and influence senior leaders. A track record of identifying and delivering process improvements that make a meaningful difference. Sound judgement, curiosity, and the ability to work effectively through ambiguity. A focus on outcomes, not just outputs. Mō mātou/About us At Te Tāhū o te Ture - the Ministry of Justice, we're committed to strengthening people's trust in the law of Aotearoa, New Zealand.
