Job Description

Role Overview Work for a top‑notch brand in the business insurance space across 26 countries with 11,000 employees worldwide. This is a replacement position for a contract developer with a duration of 6 to 12 months and potential for extension. Location: Auckland CBD, with a flexible & hybrid schedule (2 mandatory anchor days, 3 days per week in office). Immediate joining preferred. Pay rate is $100–$120 per hour (approx.), 37.5 hours per week for work‑life balance. Reporting directly to the Head of Platform, the successful candidate will be part of a squad that recently completed a global integration project with a large broker and will repeat the work with another broker. Responsibilities Work alongside broker tech teams and solution architects, coordinating and managing meetings with broker teams. Develop applications in collaboration with stakeholders and subject‑matter experts. Follow the software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes and support continuous improvement culture. Ensure solutions meet customer needs within scope, schedule, and budget, while maintaining accuracy and timeliness of output. Mentor junior engineers and transfer knowledge effectively. Identify and assess risks in your subject‑matter area, lead risk‑related dialogue as the SME for that domain, and support stakeholders in making informed, risk‑based decisions. Mitigate risks in delivery while keeping to the agreed plan and timeframes. Qualifications Minimum 12–15 years of experience as a senior or tech lead in commercial backend/full‑stack development. Strong experience with C#/.NET, Azure, and Azure DevOps (non‑negotiable). Experience with Microsoft stack; Blazor (frontend), SonarQube, Terraform (good to have). Previous experience in the financial or insurance industry is preferred but not required. Seasoned contractor experience is preferred; contractors seeking to transition to contract roles with strong Microsoft stack experience are welcome. Based in Auckland or able to relocate to Auckland (3 days per week in office). Capable of fitting into a small, well‑knit team, being approachable, actively participating in team activities, and adding value to technical discussions and junior mentorship.
