Position OceanaGold's Macraes Mine is seeking a Metallurgical Technician to join the Metallurgy team. The ideal candidate will be a team player who collaborates with colleagues in alignment with OceanaGold’s Purpose, Vision and Values. Macraes is the largest mining operation in New Zealand, employing 650 people, offering excellent career development opportunities. The role The primary duties of the role are to conduct laboratory testwork programs and assist in the optimisation of the process plant. Working seven days on (Day Shift only) and seven days off. Learn about ore sampling, metallurgical lab testing programs, health and safety, and an aspect of the gold mining industry. This role provides important support to our Processing team. Key tasks and responsibilities Follow laboratory standard operating procedures to conduct routine testwork. Complete test programs on schedule in accordance with metallurgical laboratory standards and report results in the laboratory reporting template. Ensure quality, accuracy and repeatability of test work results. Communicate any issues relating to the test work programme and the laboratory. Conduct monthly inspection of the metallurgical laboratory and equipment storage facilities. Perform data entry and administration. Ensure all incidents and hazards are reported in INX. Qualifications Experience in a metallurgical laboratory, analytical testing laboratory or similar and familiarity with its work practices. Attentive to detail. Genuine interest in the mining industry. Reasonable fitness. Comfortable using MS Office. Ability to communicate within a team environment. Hold a full, clean, current driver’s licence and be comfortable driving a manual vehicle. Additional Information Join New Zealand’s largest gold mining operation.
