Job Description

Overview Help shape the future of education in NewZealand. This permanent part‑time position is based in the Maungawhau | MountEden office of the Ministry of Education. The role is within the Learning Support team, focusing on EarlyIntervention for children with additional learning needs. Responsibilities Provide high‑quality learning support aligned with the Ministry’s practice framework, HePikorua guiding principles, and the goals of TeWhāriki: EarlyChildhood Curriculum and TeWhārikiateKohangaReo. Build and strengthen the capability of parents, teachers and whānau to support children’s learning. Understand families’ needs and collaboratively plan, support and monitor implementation of intervention plans. Support transition points in the child’s learning pathway, such as transition into early childhood education and to school as required. Work as part of a trans‑disciplinary team where a child’s needs are complex. Qualifications Bachelor of Teaching (EarlyChildhood) and full registration as a teacher. Post‑graduate Diploma in Specialist Teaching: EarlyIntervention or ability to obtain within four years of commencement. Few years of teaching experience with deep knowledge of child development, learning and behaviour. Understanding of a range of needs and disabilities and their implications for daily functioning in family life and teaching and learning in early childhood and family homes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with ākonga, whānau and kaiako across diverse settings. Ability to understand and apply the principles of TeTiritioWaitangi and tangatawhenuatanga. Full driver’s licence. NewZealand citizen, resident or holder of a valid working visa. Willingness to adhere to the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct. Salary Salary range: $69,966–$106,016 per annum plus KiwiSaver.
