Job Description

Intelligence Analyst – Security Intelligence and Threats Group Location: Wellington, New Zealand Police National Headquarters. Overview: This full‑time, on‑site position supports the High‑Risk Targeting Team within the National Intelligence Centre. The role involves analysing national security, domestic extremism and disaffected persons data to produce intelligence products for police and cross‑government stakeholders. Key Accountabilities Undertake analysis and produce intelligence products to address identified priorities. Proactively identify emerging or escalating trends. Demonstrate critical thinking and apply analytical techniques to interpret information and data. Develop high‑standard written reports, presentations and clear verbal briefings for a range of audiences. Lead and collaborate on projects and group analysis. Effectively manage competing priorities and demands to maintain quality work under strict timeframes. Demonstrate resilience and adaptability in a high‑pressure, fast‑evolving environment. Develop and maintain positive relationships internally and externally. Champion diverse worldviews, different perspectives, and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in intelligence products. What You'll Bring Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to brief diverse audiences. Capacity to manage competing priorities while maintaining quality under time constraints. Collaboration skills within teams and with stakeholders. Inquisitive mindset; apply critical thinking and analytical tools to complex problems. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Alignment of values with organisational philosophy and team orientation. Clearance Requirement Top Secret national security clearance is required. Candidates must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident with continuous residence in New Zealand for at least 10 years, or a citizen or permanent resident of Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States with 10 years continuous residence and a background verifiable by NZSIS.
