What You Will Be Doing Design, develop, test, and maintain complex COBOL and CICS applications. Build robust, scalable, and high‑performing software solutions that support essential business operations. Conduct code reviews and champion development best practices. Investigate and resolve technical issues with a focus on quality and reliability. Work closely with Business Analysts, client stakeholders, and development teams to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions. Support project planning, estimation, and delivery activities alongside Project Managers. Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and retrospectives. Build trusted relationships with clients by providing technical expertise and responsive support. Integrate new functionality into established enterprise platforms. Identify opportunities to improve application performance, maintainability, and operational efficiency. Contribute ideas that help modernise and optimise existing systems and processes. Produce high‑quality technical documentation. Mentor team members and contribute to a culture of learning and collaboration. Partner with QA teams to ensure solutions are thoroughly tested and meet the highest standards of quality and reliability. Technical Expertise 10+ years’ experience developing and supporting enterprise Mainframe applications. Strong hands‑on experience with: COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, SQL, MQ, Easytrieve Deep understanding of Mainframe environments and associated technologies. Experience working within Agile and Scrum delivery frameworks. Banking or financial services experience is highly desirable.
