We are looking for our new Whānau Support Worker to join our business unit, Mana Kidz. About the Role The Whānau Support Worker is responsible for undertaking health assessment, health education and health promotion activities in schools in South Auckland. This role provides support and expected to work closely with, and under, the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurses in the day-to-day running of projects in schools and communities. At each of these sites, school- based health nurses and community support workers will see pupils and offer throat and skin checks. This is a fixed-term position for 12 months to cover extended leave, offering a minimum of 37 hours per week. You will need to have: A current full NZ driver's license & own car Previous experience in a health environment is desirable Good English written and oral communication skills, socially confident, able to relate well to families and community groups. Speaking a second language like Te Reo Māori, or a Pasifika language is a plus Good organizational skills, including the ability to manage time and prioritisea busy caseload An interest, understanding and respect for working with children, young people and their families in the community Willing and capable of doing home visits and able to work independently on occasion. Understanding of the importance of confidentiality Demonstrates commitment to health equity and cultural competency, with an understanding of Tikanga Māori, Kawa Māori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. About Mana Kidz Mana Kidz is a free, nurse-led, school-based programme that provides comprehensive healthcare for children in the Counties Manukau Health region. The programme is led by the National Hauora Coalition in partnership with Counties Manukau Health and is supported by local providers such as Tāmaki Health Care.
