Job Description
About the Role This no ordinary management accounting role — it is a chance to get under the hood of a large, complex regulatory environment and turn cost, volume and revenue data into insight that helps shape future funding decisions. You’ll be part of a new team within finance focused on product volumes, revenue streams and cost drivers — bringing commercial curiosity, analytical rigor and practical financial advice to a high‑impact area of NZTA. You’ll document and bring to life the connection between input costs and the performance of our product and services. Permanent opportunity based in Wellington. Responsibilities Deliver high quality financial insight to support decision making across NZ Transport Agency. Combine strong management and cost accounting capability with analytical thinking to provide robust reporting, forecasting and performance analysis that links financial results to operational drivers. Partner closely with finance and business leaders to build a clear understanding of cost drivers, funding, and financial performance, supporting better outcomes and value for money. Contribute to continuous improvement in financial reporting, modelling and insight in a complex regulatory environment. What we’re looking for Strong experience in management accounting, including forecasting, modelling and performance reporting. Proven ability to analyse financial performance across cost, volume and activity drivers. Experience working with complex cost structures, allocations and multiple funding streams. Strong analytical capability, with the ability to turn data into clear, actionable insights. Ability to communicate complex financial information in a way that is accessible to non‑financial audiences. Collaborative and curious approach, with strong relationship‑building skills across diverse stakeholders. CA or equivalent professional accounting qualification. Benefits From five weeks annual leave through to life, income protection and critical illness insurance for permanent employees. Development opportunities to support career growth. Flexible, principle‑based approach. Equal Opportunity Employer Waka Kotahi is an equal opportunity employer (EOE). We recognise the importance of diversity and inclusion and are committed to providing a working environment that embraces these values. Right to Work We encourage applications only from candidates who have a legal right to live and work in New Zealand. #J-18808-Ljbffr
